Incoming: Possible Musical Awsomeness
2010 looks to be shaping up to be a good year for music in general.2009 was viewed as being quite weak by some people (me included) and I really struggled to pick 15 of last year’s best albums.
But hey ’10, your looking pretty sexy so far. Only three months have passed and I have already picked up Broken Bells – S/T (good), Frightened Rabbit – The Winter Of Mixed Drinks (very good), and Errors – Come Down With Me (awesome).
I posted the new Deftones song already which is included on Diamond Eyes, released on the 18th May.
FatCat records have waded into town announcing that Edinburgh-based rapscallions We Were Promised Jetpacks will be releasing new EP The Last Place You’ll Look on March 9th.
Grunge survivors and personal favourites Nada Surf will be releasing a covers album titled If I Had A Hi-Fi on June 8th, and will include versions of songs by Spoon and Kate Bush amongst others.
James Murphy has announced the incredible news that LCD Soundsystem will be following up their critical smash Sound Of Silver with new as-yet-untitled opus due out on May 17th.
The amazing Band Of Horses will release Infinite Arms on a label that isn’t Sub Pop apparently. I will be seeing them on 12th of June. Get in!
The Black Keys are releasing Brothers on May 18th, the day after LCD and the same day as Deftones.
All this and releases expected from the likes of Dropkick Murphys, Against Me! (White Crosses), Far (At Night We Live), Fleet Foxes, Noel Gallagher solo, The Roots, Radiohead, Tool, The Strokes and much more ensure ’10 is gonna be off the hook. I’m psyched.
