Delphic – Acolyte

Are you a fan of Friendly Fires? Klaxons? The big daddies themselves, New Order? Then check this sheez out.

Delphic are a bunch of mega-hyped Mancunians who released their debut album Acolyte late last year. I had considered checking them out then, but didn’t get round to it. They placed third or something on the BBC’s Sound Of 2010, which is compiled by bloggers, industry types and media insiders in the know.

A couple of nights ago I Spotified their asses and was very pleasantly surprised. What we have here is a pretty flawless indie-dance record. It’s full of soaring synths, epic hooks and pulsating beats. It also has guitars and actual drums. And, most importantly, proper tunes. I’m currently on a electronic tip, and Acolyte has fed my hunger well. Find and buy it.
